The reasons for taking part in a clinical trial are very personal. You are encouraged to ask and learn about clinical trials during your visits to the Juravinski Cancer Centre.
Only you can decide to take part. Your oncologist and nurse are there to help answer your questions. Make a list of your questions to discuss at your next appointment.
Take your time to weigh the pros and cons. Think about what could potentially help you and what you are not comfortable with.
Discuss all options with those close to you, such as family, friends, pastor, aboriginal navigator or your other doctors.
You will never be forced to join a clinical trial. Taking part is always voluntary and you may chose to stop a clinical trial at any point in time for any reason.
If you change your mind and stop taking part in a clinical trial, you can discuss other treatment options with your oncologist and nurse. Stopping does not impact on the quality of your care. We understand and respect your decisions.
